Port

Cruise ships docked at the port
The main port of entry is located in Corfu town. Cruise ships can be found here usually every day during the summer months. There is also a smaller port in Lefkimi located on the southern part of the island. There are no ferries that connect Corfu to Athens however the nearest mainland port of Igoumenitsa is only a few nautical miles away averaging about a 1.5 - 2 hours ferry ride. These ferries depart daily and are large enough to transport individuals, cars, trucks, and buses.
Hop on/off bus is also located at the port along with cruise ships. Rental car services are within walking distance outside the main port entry (only one main port entry for passengers). Daily tickets are sold at the kiosks inside the port.
Here you can also book excursion tickets to explore nearby islands which include Paxos and Antipaxos or even the country of Albania. A whole day is needed when exploring either island. Joy and Britannia Cruises offer these excursions.
You can easily walk into the town from the port. If exiting the main port entry, just turn left and walk. A taxi is not necessary. It generally takes about 15 minutes or less to reach the center. At the same time you can can view the sensational architecture along the way.
