Exchange and Credit Card Information

Original Obsolete Currency

There are many options for exchanging money to the current currency of the Euro. Keep in mind that on top of the exchange rate there may be a small fee/commission for the transaction(s). You get more for your dollar than the past where $1.00 would get you anywhere from 0.50 Euro cents to about 0.60. Times have changed for the better. The U.S. dollar is not accepted anywhere in Corfu. Feel free to use the currency exchange ticker on the main page for updated results.

Credit card foreign transaction fees are usually about 3%. Capital One does not charge these. Always let your credit card and debit card institutions know about your upcoming travels.

You can also take Euros out of any ATM. Example, if you use your Wells Fargo Debit (checking) card into a Pireaus ATM, you may be able to take out around 800 Euros. The ATM will take about 3 Euros for the transaction and Wells Fargo will eventually charge you a $5 Foreign Transaction Fee. Sounds like a lot but in reality it may be better opting with this because you know what you are getting into.
